            -  brought to maturity in three ways: internally, externally and both internally and externally

       3. Knowledge of Comprehension(sammasana-ñana)
     4a. Knowledge of Contemplation of Arising and Passing Away (udayabbaya-ñana)
            -  in its weak stage, involving the Ten Corruptions of Insight (illumination, knowledge,
               rapturous delight, calmness, bliss, faith, energy, assurance, equanimity, and
               attachment)
 V. Purification by Knowledge and Vision of What Is Path and Not-Path (maggamagga-ñanadassana-visuddhi)
VI. Purification by Knowledge and Vision of the Way (patipada-ñanadassana-visuddhi)
     4b. Knowledge of Contemplation of Arising and Passing Away (udayabbaya-ñana)
            - in its mature stage
       5. Knowledge of Contemplation of Dissolution (bhanga-ñana)
       6. Knowledge of Contemplation of Appearance as Terror (bhayatupatthana-ñana)
       7. Knowledge of Contemplation of Danger (adinava-ñana)
       8. Knowledge of Contemplation of Disenchantment (nibbida-ñana)
       9. Knowledge of Desire for Deliverance (muncitu-kamyata-ñana)
     10. Knowledge of Contemplation of Reflection (patisankhanupassana-ñana)
     11. Knowledge of Equanimity about Formations (sankhar'upekkha-ñana)
            -  Insight Leading to Emergence (vutthanagamini-vipassana-ñana)
     12. Knowledge in Conformity with Truth (Conformity Knowledge) (anuloma-ñana)
     13. Knowledge of Change-of-Lineage (gotrabhu-ñana)
VII. Purification by Knowledge and Vision (ñanadassana-visuddhi)
     14. Knowledge of Path (magga-ñana)
     15. Knowledge of Fruit (phala-ñana)
     16. Knowledge of Reviewing (paccavekkhana-ñana)
